Everyone Is a Risk Manager (But Someone Has to Own It)
Most organizations don't have a dedicated safety director, so safety becomes everyone’s responsibility, which too often means it belongs to no one. Rafael Haciski and Amanda Fahey of Johnson Kendall Johnson will walk you through what a functioning safety program actually requires, from facility inspections and committee structure to OSHA readiness, fleet safety, and property loss prevention, and where each of those pieces realistically lives in an organization with no safety role on the org chart. HR leaders will leave with a practical map of what to own internally, what to push to department leadership, and what to pull from outside partners. With time for Q&A and discussion, participants will:
- Identify the core functions of a safety program and assess which are currently owned, shared, or unassigned in your organization
- Distinguish what belongs to HR, what belongs to department leadership, and what requires outside expertise
- Recognize the property, fleet, and workers' compensation exposures that most often go unmanaged when nobody holds the safety role
