Many Gifts, One Spirit

Happy 2026! If you have been following The Gathering, you know that our collaborative 2026 Annual Meeting represents a powerful partnership, bringing together dozens of speakers, 25 annual sponsors, and members and staff from four associations representing five faith traditions.  We come together this March in Indianapolis, IN to share expertise, talents and gifts and a shared passion for our dedicated ministries, their missions, and the people they serve.

Plans for this joint conference began in casual conversation more than eight years ago and in earnest nearly two years ago. It has taken time, energy, compromise, resets, crucial conversations, new skills, and fresh approaches. It has deepened our mutual understanding, respect, and humility.

 This is the collaborative work we encourage our members to explore. I’m proud that Methodist Ministries Network, AQORD, CHHSM and PAHSA have been willing to work and learn alongside each other.

Our shared faith and trust in “the common good” has kept us grounded. Now, as we move into this new year, we are beginning to march in step toward this big, bold vision. We hope you will join us!

I was intrigued to learn that 2026 is the Year of the Fire Horse, according to the Chinese Zodiac. We can “expect fast-paced transformation, increased social opportunities, and a push for personal and professional breakthroughs.”

The “fire” element of 2026 foretells that efforts this year will be infused with an extra layer of passion and unyielding determination, urging us all to pursue our goals with fiery zeal.

I feel that energy for the year ahead. I believe in that energy for The Gathering and for each of you. As nonprofit leaders, we must continue to push ourselves and make new connections. My hope is that, guided by a loving God, we may all bring our gifts to support and serve one another so that each of our associations can make a positive impact for our members, their communities, and the people they serve.
